Historic Downtown Frostburg

Eight miles west of Cumberland in Allegany County on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad route, historic Frostburg is best known as the home of Frostburg State University.

The university is actually part of Frostburg’s Mountain City Arts and Entertainment District – established in December 2008. Like Cumberland, the Appalachian town of Frostburg has emerged as an arts destination. And, it has an assortment of eateries – menus feature pancakes, ethnic choices, European cuisine and more.

Frostburg State’s Cultural Events Series presents big-time live entertainment – theater, jazz and a wide range of special events – that draws from the tri-state area. Recent attractions have included the Jimmy Heath Quartet, The Capitol Steps and the Maryland Symphony Orchestra.
