Not worth it.

Ordered shrimp cocktail and bacon wrapped scallops appetizer and got 5 of each for a little over $20.00. Ordered surf and surf for dinner and lobster was overcooked and crab cake had no flavor. Didn't waste my time complaining because not worth it. Would not eat here again. Bill was $95.00 for 2 people. Better off elsewhere. High prices for low quality over cooked food.
Excellent crabcakes and soft shell crabs!

We went to the Captain's Galley II on a Saturday night, and very much enjoyed our dinners. I ordered soft shell crabs and my husband ordered crab cakes. The soft shell crabs were perfect...there were 3 of them and I could barely finish them. My husband said the crab cakes were very good also. Big chunks of lump crabmeat, no starchy fillers like you often see. Go with an appetite...if you order entrees like these, you also get two sides plus rolls, and one of the sides is the salad bar, which is basic but good. I should also mention that the blue cheese dressing at the salad bar is the real deal...big chunks of blue cheese throughout and it is delicious. Go early also...we went at 5:30 pm because we didn't eat lunch, and it was packed by the time we left around 6:45 pm. We called ahead but you can't make reservations unless you have 16 people. Also -- if you want steamed crabs, the menu is different and you will eat upstairs, not in the main dining room. Next time we come to OC we will come back and try the steamed crabs.

I am so torn. I love the food at this place (even though I frequently complain about the temperature of the crab cakes) but the price just keeps going up. Went there a few nights ago and they were charging $28.95 for flounder!!!!!!!! $24.95 for Salmon. I can see the Salmon cost but flounder is caught local. Most places charges between $21 and $23 for it. We also got sweet potatoes as a side and they only gave us half a sweet potato. The waitress also left us hanging for 15 min before she brought us our bill!! She wanted to get someone there food first but 15 min ... totally unacceptable! I love their food but get slightly more turned off each time I go.

We visit Captains Galley I I every year when we come to OC. The crabcakes are meaty and moist and yummy. The second favorite item is the Rita's delight. It's my mom's favorite. It's a pineapple cake with whip cream and coconut. Those are the two best items you can't go wrong.
