We ate here with another couple on a Friday night and the only reservations available were for 8:30pm. We showed on time for our reservations and were seated within about ten minutes. It was obvious that the table had just been cleared and it lacked napkins & cutlery. We ordered beverages which came promptly - so far, so good. I ordered Maryland Crab Soup as a starter, but my server forgot the soup and needed a reminder. When the soup arrived the server nearly spilled it on me and there was no spoon. As I finally tasted my first spoonful I noted that the soup appeared to have a ham like base and not the traditional tomato & vegetable stock. It was OK, but lacked the Old Bay zest. My wife and I each order the Rock Fish stuffed with crab imperial. The portions were quite generous, but the fish was over cooked & dry and the crab imperial was salty and more imperial than crab. I finished with desert and coffee, but not my first choice for desert as they were sold out of two of the menu items. Perhaps we just hit this restaurant on an off night, but based on this visit I cannot recommend it.
Go for the crab cakes.

We tried the CG II with friends during our most recent late September week in OC. Between the four of us we sampled different appetizers, salad bar, side dishes, and drinks. All were very good. The unanimous entree of choice was the crab cakes, which is a misnomer as they were, in fact, large rounded mounds of lump crab meat. This is a must destination for crab lovers. Service was very friendly. As the evening was a little chilly, we had an indoor table with a harbor view. Fun to pretend the biggest yacht at the dock is yours. Otherwise the atmosphere is pleasant but not up to the pricepoint. Furnishings are well used and the interior is tan/brown and generally drab. However, conversation and the window view of the boats drew most of our attention. Overall, a little pricey but worth it just for the crab.
relaxing and delicious lunch

We ate at Captain's Galley II after a morning walking on Assateague Island looking for the wild horses (which was fun and exhasting). We had a dozen steamed clams (which was really 14 which is awesome), onion rings, BLT and a grilled cheese. The clams were super fresh and tasty. The onion rings were perfectly crisp. The BLT had a lot of bacon which is obviously great. The grilled cheese was perfect - lots of cheese and just browned. We also enjoyed a few draft beers. We loved the meal!! We were seated on the screened in 2nd floor deck. The views of the harbor were great. The porch kept the bugs out, sun off of us and still provided the fresh breeze. The service was a little slow for a 2 pm lunch which was disappointing. However the food and relaxing atmosphere more than made up for it. The lunch prices are definitely reasonable. We'll definitely be back when we go to OC again!!

We tried this place during a week long stay in OCMD. We both got the crab cake meal since they claimed to have the best one in the world. We also had the salad bar which is small but very fresh and well stocked. The crab cake was the best one I've ever had!!! Shaped like a baseball and nothing but huge chunks of crabmeat!!! If your looking for crab cakes search no further!! Awesome views if the bay and the boats coming and going.
