Basic, older motel.
Apr 20, 2014 by: Karen P from Cheyenne, Wyoming
We were on a fast-paced trip around half of the USA and stayed at multiple hotels. After finding a wonderful BW Plus in Illinois, we had high hopes for the Frederick, MD Best Western. We found it to be an older motel with quite small rooms. We had reserved the King "Suite" which turned out to just be a basic room with a king bed and a sofa bed. Upon pulling out the sofa bed, the folded area was covered with misc. lint/debris that had fallen through from the couch--not sure the last time it had been made into a bed. There were no sheets on it and no sheets for it in the room--requiring us to make 2 trips down to the front desk to get the necessary bed linens. When we requested a mattress pad, we were informed that they don't have them. The bathroom was tiny. Upon checkout, I explained my disappointment to the manager on duty, and he gave us a discount on our stay which was fair.
Perfect for a quick stay

Very positive overall experience. Quick and friendly check in process. Clean room but very tiny bathroom!!!! Typical breakfast. Friendly staff and helpful. Eating area was clean and we'll taken care of. Check out process also flowed smoothly and again, very upbeat and nice staff member. After staying in hotels with poor service, this one showed that it's easy to be nice and helpfu and get a good review on Trip Advisor! Good location with quick access to the highway. Would absolutely stay here again.
Time to make some improvements

This property has its pluses and minuses. Unfortunately, the minuses seem to outweigh the pluses. The dirty carpet, lack of cleanliness in the bathroom, the miserable mattress comfort and the lack of nice blankets. It just seems weak. I was so disappointed in this property. Dimly lit rooms, uncomfortable beds and dirty bathrooms just ruin the week.

Overall stay was excellent. Would stay there again and recommend to all. Location was great and there is plenty to do in the area. Great breakfast and hotel staff outstanding. Near mall and historic sites.
Home away from home

I stay at this motel every few months, so it feels like home to me. The staff is pleasant, thoughtful, and always helpful. It's located in a very convenient spot, and the only slight drawback is that the parking lot tends to fill up fast because it's obviously a popular motel! I recommend this place, especially if you're looking for a quality room that's comfy but not fancy. Great value for the price.
