Trip Advisor Amazing team at American Inn of Bethesda
Sep 23, 2014 by: Donna H from Atlanta, Georgia
The staff at the American Inn in Bethesda were absolutely the best. From check in to departure I was treated with incredible professionalism and friendliness. Special call out to Adeline Yosephine, the Guest Services Manager. Adeline and her team helped me in so many ways.

Trip Advisor Average Price, Average Hotel

A relatively cheap hotel in Bethesda. It is close to the NIH/WalterReed but a good 10mins walk to the Metro station. Location wise, it is right on the "edge" of downtown so close to many restaurants. It offers free parking but space is limited. But on weekends, u can park for free in public parking lots around town. The room is a little bit on the smaller side and the decor and finishing is a little bit on the older side. However, perfectly acceptable for their price range. The staff seems to be friendly and the included breakfast is not bad either (standard fare: some hot food like eggs and sausages with yogurt and such).

Trip Advisor OK quality and near NIH & Medical Centers plus Metro

Close to NIH and the Bethesda Medical Centers. AAA price was the best available in the area when I booked three weeks in advance. Initial problem at check-in – first room had someone already in it, but the staff made a quick effort to locate a different room. Basic two bed room. Small desk space, but there was readily available electrical plugs for the computer. Additional electronic outlets near bed that included UBS plugs. Closet METRO station is Bethesda Medical Center. The Bethesda stop is walking distance, but a longer walk that the Medical Center stop. Free limited breakfast.

Trip Advisor Pleasantly Surprised

After being disappointed that my wife didn't book us at the DoubleTree, I was repeatedly surprised to find the American Inn of Bethesda to be a welcoming environment. The staff was gracious and accomodating. For an older hotel, the interior was fresh and well appointed throughout, including the unexpected places like the public restrooms and stairwell. Every appliance/fixture, electrical and plumbing, not only worked, but worked well. Bonus: leave the car parked and walk. The area had restaurants galore, quaint shops everywhere and nightlife aplenty. Breakfast was lone weak spot for us. OK, but could use a little imagination and attentiveness from the right staff person. Would definitely stay here again.

Trip Advisor Welcoming & Convenient

Located among loads of amenities in downtown Bethesda, with easy access to Metro, NIH, Walter Reed. Parking on site is sparse, but public parking is only a block away & free on weekends. The Inn offers limited shuttle service on weekdays, but a free bus conveniently circulates through the downtown area (diagonally across from the Inn). Complimentary breakfast & outdoor pool are available. Half-day & full-day rates for Meeting room use. Sales Manager Cynthia made planning our family reunion effortless. And everyone found the rooms to be comfortable & service very friendly -- special thanks to Dipshan at the front desk!
