Nice Stay, Great Staff
Mar 02, 2014 by: Audrachanell from Bowie, Maryland
My husband and I had a great stay at this quaint, quiet hotel! The front desk staff, especially Adeline, was really friendly and helpful and you get a comfy bed, breakfast and there is a restaurant attached. If you are a foodie, Brasserie Monte Carlo on Norfolk is a GREAT restaurant to check try. The Onion tart is divine!

We were fortunate to get a "deal" on this hotel which made it very affordable. It was wonderful and probably worth even the published prices. The best part was the private motor launch which departed every half hour from the hotel's own mooring and which took us to a very central point by Bridge of Sighs very close to St Marks' Square. This boat ride took about 15 minutes (depending on the driver and time of day or night) and was a lovely part of the holiday and was almost never busy. We never tired of the view as we approached Venice from the Lido. The hotel itself was amazing with a beach front on the Lido yet backing onto the canal in a peaceful and restful location away from the crowds of tourists in Venice. The beach huts" on the beach front were wonderful but the daily rate made them out of the question! However, when we visited in June the beautiful pool was empty with only a very few guests making use of the poolside facilities and it was all we needed.

We have had a lot of experience with hotels in the DC area due to family living there and this was a good price, clean, included a so-so breakfast. I would recommend if you were just staying overnight as we were, but have stayed at much better hotels in the area. Prices fluctuate so we have to try many different ones. The windows had frost inside the room although I wasn't cold. We did get free parking, which is very unusual in Bethesda.

This is one of the worst hotels I've experienced. The walls are paper thin - I could hear people talking in the room next door until after 1AM, and that was with earplugs in my ears. Doors slam and reverberate through the building. The heat didn't work properly on a very cold night. Bed was uncomfortable, pillows rock hard. The shower fluctuated constantly as did the water temperature - there was barely enough hot water for a short shower. The price is low, but the quality is lower.
Like a Boutique!

I was very pleased with this Bethesda gem of a hotel. It is nestled off of busy Wisconsin Avenue, close to everything. There are beautiful flower arrangements in the lobby and it has a Boutique, welcoming feel. The room was clean, quiet and the bed was very comfy. We pulled in, parked, was checked in quickly and went to our event. We had an awesome stay and would highly recommend the American Inn!
