Great Hospitality in Downtown Bethesda
Apr 11, 2014 by: C B from Boston, Massachusetts
I never take the trouble to write reviews, but in this case, I need to make the effort. On 27-March-2014, I arrived with a co-worker at Bethesda Court Hotel only to find out the my travel agent had mistakenly booked only one of us, and the hotel had no additional rooms available! At first, the staff at the front desk tried to help us by searching the nearby hotels for accommodations, but eventually, they decided to give a prime room to my associate for a great rate. Most importantly, the demeanor and level of professionalism exhibited by the staff (Branden, Victoria, and Robert) was top notch! They were cool, calm, collected, cheerful, and efficient,--even when at that time I was not. Throughout my stay, they convinced me that THIS was the place to stay in that area. The hotel is comfortable, very convenience to local hospitals, and very very well run. Thanks again to all of your great hospitality! I'll be back! ~C Broadbridge

standard hotel, but good

Bethesda court hotel is a 40 minutes drive by cab from Dulles Airport (ca 60 USD) and about 30 min ride in metro to Uniaon Station (facing the Capitol Hill). The metro station if 4 min walk away from the hotel. That pre-determined my choice of the hotel. Hotel itself has 3 stores, standard equipped room, bathroom is a bit too small (the shower is very narrow, my room did not have a bathtub), but for one person, not a very demanding travelling as a tourist to spend a couple of days in Washington DC it was worth the price. My room was on 3rd floor, facing the street but not noisy. There are a lot of places to eat around (look them up in Google), a cinema, a Giant food supermarket, couple of wine and liqor stores. A taxi was summoned promptly when I checked out to go to airport. I am not the person to complain about width of toiletry shelf or color of nightshades. The room was clean, wi-fi was not very speedy, but steady; the breakfast is modest, but there is a French bakery just around the corner to serve you good breakfast for 12 USD. I did not regret my choice.
Superb Value Exceeding Helpful Staff

The staff here are supremely helpful and give the personalized service more common in European boutique hotels. I had called ahead with a special request, and not only did they grant it... they recognized my voice at check in from the phone call and remembered who I was. They greeted me by name on several other occasions. Staff were very helpful explaining to my sister how to walk to the very nearby but rather hidden back entrance to the Metro. And they give you free bottles of water whenever you ask. I also liked that there is a 24 hour pharmacy and many interesting local restaurant choices nearby. I felt safe walking around the area - it is very brightly lit. And the metro is so close that you can truly be at the Smithsonian museums less than 30 minutes after you were sitting on your bed. There is even a breakfast room and a lobby that people actually relax an talk to each other in. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 starts is that the hotel appearance is pretty dated. It was comfortable and clean, but shows its age -- like your favorite grandma's house. e pictures on its website definitely show it on its very best light .. when you pull up you'll wonder at first if you saw the pix 20-30 years ago in style. For the price and convenience, and the personal touch, though, we will definitely stay here again. If you want hip and stylish, you'all be happier paying for the W or Sofitel. This place is as good as them, it just doesn't look (or cost) the part.

I go to NIH for my cancer treatments. Since I can't be home the staff here makes me feel at home. They are always very helpful and courteous. I love everything about this hotel and wouldn't stay any place else.
