Trip Advisor "Great music history of two of Baltimore's musical natives"

Small venue but well appointed and a very friendly staff. Doubles as a great venue for local artists to get some publicity. I happen to go there during a fashion show that attracts some of the top fashion designers in Baltimore. There's memorabilia of the great Eubie Blake and Billie Holliday both from Baltimore. A worthwhile place to visit in the middle of antique row. You never know what new artist is having an exhibit there! It's a good place to get local information of the art scene.

Trip Advisor Worth a visit if you can go at the right time

This is a small place that's right across the street from Maryland General Hospital. You can get there by taking the light rail and walking about 3 blocks north. The neighborhood is gentrifying and it shows. That said, we felt safe walking in the area. There is no admission fee--just a box for donations. On the first floor there are pictures of Eubie Blake and Billie Holiday--both Baltimore natives. Also, there are a couple of his pianos as well as some other memorabilia. In another room there are temporary exhibits. When we went, there were album covers from the 70s featuring funkadelic and soul singers for the most part. The reason I say it's worth a visit if you go at the right time is that there are days when a jazz group rehearses on the second floor. Rehearsals are open to the public. Also, the Center hosts other events at times. Still, we're glad we went. The staff there is very friendly and gladly answers any questions you may have.
