Maryland Breweries

Great things are brewing in Maryland

Click to play videoThe brewing industry in Maryland was started in 1703 in Annapolis by Benjamin Fordham. Since then, over 50 breweries have opened in Maryland and The Brewers Association of Maryland is committed to continuing the proud tradition of crafting world class beer. Maryland craft breweries continue to grow and support local communities and farmers, from small business owners to the family farm.

You'll find events and breweries in Central and Southern Maryland, the Capital Region and the Eastern Shore.

CENTRAL MARYLAND

Baltimore-Washington Beer Works

The Raven LagerThe Baltimore-Washington Beer Works, of Baltimore, Maryland was founded by Stephen Demczuk, who was partner in Europe's first beer-of-the-month club, Beer Around the World.  He, along with Baltimorean, Jim Seay and German beer importer, Mr. Wolfgang Stark styled a beer that would be appealing to the masses, drinkable and enjoyed by all.  With the assistance of master brewer Mr. Hans-Martin Walz of Anker Brewery, came The Raven, a beer brewed in the honor of Baltimore's literary genius, Edgar Allan Poe.

 Ruddy Duck Brewery & Grill

Ruddy Duck Brewery LogoThe Ruddy Duck Brewery and Grill was conceived by co-owner Carlos Yanez. For years, Carlos has dreamed of opening a fun, family oriented restaurant, celebrating the marriage of great food and freshly brewed beer. His years of passionate home cooking and brewing and love of entertaining friends and family, is expressed in the attention to detail in the craftsmanship of the brewing, the warmth of the environment, and the quality of the food. The ‘ruddy duck’ is a species native to both South and North America and has a migratory path that takes it to and from each. So goes the duck, goes founder Carlos Yanez. A native of Argentina, he “migrated” to the U.S. in 1998.

In the Growlers brewhouse we practice a doctrine of quality, simplicity and authenticity to make sure you are drinking the best possible beer every time you visit.
