Allegheny Highlands Trail of Maryland – Follows former Western Maryland Railroad for 20.47 miles from Cumberland to Pennsylvania line. Connects with C&O Canal Towpath. Very slight grade, but downhill all the way from west to east.  

Western Maryland Rail Trail – About 25 miles of paved surface. Begins west of historic Fort Frederick State Park and heads to Potomac River. Circuit available to C&O Canal rail trail.

Green Ridge State Forest – Commonly known as “The Ridge,” a 44,000-acre mecca for off-road bikers. Nearly 100 miles of dirt roads and challenging 11.6-mile wilderness loop. “Easy-out” routes. 

The Great Allegheny Passage - After many years of extraordinary effort, Allegany County is proud to announce that the Maryland portion of the Great Allegheny Passage is complete from the Mason Dixon line to the C&O Canal Tow Path running through Frostburg, the Narrows and Cumberland.
