Star-Spangled heritage
Witness re-enactments of how American militia confronted the British invasion during the War of 1812. Defenders Day at North Point (Fort Howard Park, Baltimore County) is an annual tribute to the “Old Defenders,” the heroes of the Battle of Baltimore. Fort McHenry’s Star-Spangled Banner Weekend, Sept. 7-9, recalls the all-night British bombardment of the fort and the penning of our national anthem. On Sept. 22, a re-enactment and festival at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum salutes the Battle of St. Leonard Creek – the largest naval conflict in Maryland history. |
