The “Free State” is showcasing free events to celebrate summer. Art that appeals to children is on display at Imagination Bethesda. The landscape, the C&O Canal and Deep Creek Lake inspire artists during Mountain Maryland Plein Air. Traditions are honored in Baltimore by artists at the Maryland Traditions Folklife Festival and with beehive hairdos at HonFest. Cars are king at the Mid-Atlantic Chevelle Show in North East. And, St. Mary’s College of Maryland in Historic St. Mary’s City hosts its River Concert Series beginning June 21 through July 26.

Steamed crabs and corn Maryland food festivals
Indulge in that tasty morsel of summer at the Strawberry Festival, June 1 in Sykesville. Summerseat Farm hosts Beer, Bands & BBQ, June 1, in Mechanicsville. Harford County celebrates Restaurant Week June 3 – 15. The state crustacean is feted (and steamed) at the St. Mary’s Crab Festival, June 8 in Leonardtown.  June 14-15 are smoke-flavored with the Swinetastic BBQ Festival in Frederick and the Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival at National Harbor.  The first weekend of summer brings the Crabplace.com’s Crab and Cruise Weekend in Crisfield and Delmarva Chicken Festival in Snow Hill. And, on June 22, Tilghman Island hosts its Seafood Festival.
