Arts & Entertainment – Crafts galore in Baltimore
A dazzling array of handmade jewelry, ceramics, glass, furniture, clothing and more await you at the 2009 American Craft Show, Feb. 27- March 1, at the Baltimore Convention Center. With more than 700 of the country’s leading craft artists participating, it’s the largest juried, indoor craft show in the nation. Show offers items created with recycled and green materials, discounted Friday evening admission.
Chefs and Waiter Culinary Corner – Adventures in tastes
Expand your palate without deflating your wallet. New dining experiences await you at a delectable range of restaurants – from seafood to steak, casual to haute cuisine – during area celebrations of Restaurant Week. Participating chefs and restaurateurs have designed multi-course presentations at special prices. Annapolis Restaurant Week runs Feb.16-20. Howard County Restaurant Week runs Feb. 23 - March 8. Also, Baltimore Winter Restaurant Week, Jan. 23 - Feb.1.

Learn how to collect maple syrup at Ladew Topiary Gardens, Feb. 15, in Monkton, an easy drive north of Baltimore. Enjoy tasty maple snacks as you see the maple-sugaring process up close. Ladew’s Topiary Garden – called "the most outstanding topiary garden in America" – includes a 1.5-mile Nature Walk and 22 acres of topiary on a 250-acre property.
History & Heritage – Celebrate Black History Month
Maryland has a strong African-American tradition that dates back to Colonial times. Visit the Hampton National Historic Site in Towson, just north of Baltimore, Feb. 8, for a re-telling of Maryland’s African-American oral history – Stories from the Slave Cabin. In Annapolis, Watermark in partnership with the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation offers Saturday tours that highlight African-American history in the state’s capital.

Does a revved-up engine quicken your pulse? How about riding with the wind as you tool along the highway on your two-wheeled monster? Or, the thought of hitting the road in a customized RV? Get to the Motor Trend International Auto Show, Feb.12-15 at the Baltimore Convention Center. And, don’t miss the Mid-Atlantic International Motorcycle Show, Feb. 6-8, and the Maryland Recreational Vehicle Show, Feb.13-15 and 20-22 – both at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium.
