syrup in Maryland
Learn how to collect maple
syrup at Ladew Topiary Gardens, Feb. 15,
in Monkton, an easy drive north of Baltimore. Enjoy tasty maple snacks
as you see the maple-sugaring process up close. Ladew’s Topiary
Garden – called "the most outstanding topiary garden in
America" – includes a 1.5-mile Nature Walk and 22 acres
of topiary on a 250-acre property. |

Black History Month
Maryland
has a strong African-American tradition that dates back
to Colonial times. Visit the Hampton National Historic Site in
Towson, just north of Baltimore, Feb. 8, for a re-telling of Maryland’s
African-American oral history – Stories from the Slave
Cabin. In Annapolis, Watermark in partnership with the Kunta
Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation offers Saturday tours that highlight
African-American history in the state’s capital. |
