Preakness Celebration is a series of events leading up to the 134 the running of the Preakness, the second jewel of horse racing’s Triple Crown, at Pimlico Race Course on May 16th (always the third Saturday of May.) Most of the events are free and open to the public.

Pee Wee Preakness

Just for kids,  the Pee Wee Preakness, where tiny tots will bounce their way to the finish line on roly-poly Hippity Hops. The "Mini Preakness" will take place at the Federal Hill Park in Downtown Baltimore. For more information call 1-877-BALTIMORE.

Preakness Frog Hop

19th Annual Preakness Crab Derby

The Preakness Celebration Parade of Lights

The 2009 Preakness Parade of Lights will be held on Friday, May 15, at 8:30 p.m. This year the parade will feature illuminated floats, bands, giant balloons, equestrian units and the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales. The 2009 Grand Marshal is Baltimore’s own Stacy Keibler, who the next day at Pimlico Race Course will be the celebrity host of the InfieldFEST, presented by Bud Light, at the 134th Preakness Stakes.

Black-Eyed Susan Day

134th Running of the Preakness Stakes

One sure bet is an awesome day at the Preakness - the mid-Atlantic's largest, single-day, annual sporting event!
Once again Baltimore's Old Hilltop comes alive with the running of the 134th Preakness Stakes, where the three-year old thoroughbreds will compete for $1 million in the middle jewel of the Triple Crown. Gates open at 8:00 a.m.

InfieldFest
Are you ready for some rockin' madness? ZZ Top headlines the 2009 Preakness InfieldFest at Pimlico Race Course. The sharp-dressed trio will also share the stage with Buckcherry and hometown band Charm City Devils. Festival-goers can also watch the matches in the Toyota Pro Beach East Volleyball Tour, featuring top female players, and visit the interactive tent for fun and games, like Rock Band and virtual NASCAR racing, and to check out the oxygen bars. Gates open at 8 a.m.

Infield at Power Plant Live
So, you'd like to sample the Preakness infield experience without, well, literally having to be in the infield? Check out the Infield at Power Plant Live event, all day Saturday at Power Plant Live, 34 Market Place. Enjoy live tunes from Cinder Road and Faded Image, food, drink deals, casino-style gambling, contests and a live broadcast of all the racing action from Pimlico. "Gates" open at 10 a.m. Cost is $10. Post-Preakness Party
Head to an after-Preakness concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Rams Head Live, 20 Market Place. Beretta Jane headlines the 98 Rock Post-Preakness Party, with Gotham Falls and Running the Guard also on the bill. Tickets are $5. Call 410-244-1131 or go to ramsheadlive.com.
