The Maryland State Fair

The Maryland State Fair, named one of the top 50 fairs in North America, is one event you don't want to miss. This year's 11-day festival will feature swifty swine racing pigs, live thoroughbred horseracing, bull riding and barrell racing, concerts, agricultural fair tours, games, rides and more.
The Maryland State Fair has been a late summer tradition since 1878, and locals affectionaly refer to it as "The 11 Best Days of Summer." As always, never a dull moment at this year's Maryland State Fair! Here's a taste of the great variety of entertainment for fairgoers:

The 2011 County Fair is happy to announce that we are having BULL RIDING and BARREL RACING this year. The "Twisted "K" Ranch & Rodeo" will be held inside the Show Place Arena and, even better, there will be NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE for general seating for the competition and show. The St. Mary’s County Fair has grown into annual 4-day agriculturally oriented event with an attendance of 50,000. The County Fair's mission is to improve agriculture, increase public awareness of the agricultural community in our area, and education of the general populace on agricultural and home arts skills. In a more practical view, the Fair offers the public a chance to see a cow up close, eat candy cotton, learn about 4-H livestock projects, ride a Ferris wheel, listen to gospel music, feel the pride of wining a blue ribbon on a chocolate cake and learn the best technique for canning grape jelly.
