Chestertown's annual Art in the Park will feature the work of over 40 artists and artisans on September 11, 2010, at Fountain Park in downtown Chestertown. Sponsored by the Chestertown Arts League.

Art in the Park attracts popular, regional artists who create quality, affordable works that vary in technique, media and style. This event is a perfect time to start (or finish) your holiday shopping with unique art and crafts pieces that would make wonderful gifts for the home or office and would be prized for years to come.

Each year one of the Chestertown Arts League artists donates an original oil painting to be raffled off in the afternoon of Art in the Park. This year’s artist, Marj Morani has donated a 16 x 20” oil on canvas, “September,” (featured in the header at the far right) which is a characteristic Morani landscape with its joyful impasto, warm palette, and sense of place. Water, marsh grass, trees, and sky reveal an astonishing color spectrum which draws one toward a hidden passage in the tide line. “September,” will soon appear in the window of The Finishing Touch to begin the countdown to the raffle at Art in the Park, set for Saturday, September 11. Marj, plein air painter and life drawing regular, is one of CAL’s most prolific and popular artists. Her works sell regularly and more than once have won the People’s Choice award at gallery openings.
