Salisbury, the county seat of Wicomico County, is the largest city on the Eastern Shore. Take a walk in the park along the Wicomico River – one of 50 parks in the county -- or cruise the river aboard the Lady Maryland and imagine the steamboat era.
Learn about the county’s history at the Wicomico Heritage Center and Pemberton Hall, an 18th-century plantation house. At the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art, you’ll find a celebration of decoy and bird carving.
Wicomico’s parks are places for hiking, biking, boating, canoeing, kayaking fishing, crabbing and birding -- more than 350 species of birds have been recorded in the region. There are also plenty of golf courses in the area. The Delmarva Shorebirds, an Oriole minor-league affiliate, play at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Salisbury’s zoo is another popular attraction.
Near Mardela Springs is a marker with the Penn coat of arms on one side and the Calvert arms on the other, indicating the southern side of the Mason-Dixon Line.
