Just east of Washington, D.C., Prince George’s County is where you can explore the history of aerospace, learn about Maryland agriculture and take in a sporting event. At the Accokeek Foundation’s colonial tobacco plantation and the National Colonial Farm Museum, you can learn about a past way of life. The Patuxent Wildlife Research Center in Laurel investigates endangered species; it’s also a venue for fishing, hunting, bird watching and educational programs. More outdoor attractions include: Oxen Hill Children’Farms, Watkins Regional Park, and the Prince George’s Equestrian Center and the Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary – a good place to see wild geese – are both in Upper Marlboro.

The Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center is the cornerstone of the new National Harbor development – a 300-acre mixed-use community on the banks of the Potomac River within view of downtown Washington, D.C.

The Washington Redskins play at FedExField in Landover, and the Baysox, a minor-league affiliate of the Orioles, play in Bowie. Also, the University of Maryland Terrapins host games in College Park.
