Welcome Centers

One of the few states to staff Welcome Centers with Nationally Certified Travel Counselors by the Travel Industry Association of America, Maryland offers Welcome Centers that are open year-round. All Welcome Centers are handicapped accessible. Welcome Centers are closed on all state and federal holidays as well as Nov. 27and 28, Dec. 26 and 31, 2009 and May 29, 2010 .

The Youghiogheny Overlook Welcome Center is located on I-68 Eastbound at mile marker #6. Situated on a beautiful overlook of the Youghiogheny River/Reservoir, this staffed Welcome Center features restrooms, a pet rest area, picnic tables, vending machines and handicapped accessible parking for cars, campers, RV’s, buses and trucks.

Highlighted by a display of antique pieces of farm equipment and a Civil War era herb garden, the Mason Dixon Discovery Center offers a picnic area, pavilion, playground and walking track.

The I-95 South Welcome Center serves traffic heading towards Washington D.C. and points south. Services offered include travel information on the State Of Maryland and Washington D.C.; free Wi-Fi Service (laptop computer required); vending machines; water fountains; restrooms; public phones; newspaper stands; and recycle bins. The Center also features truck, RV, and bus parking lots; a dumping station; and picnic tables and benches.

Food, fuel, and travel information services are available at the Chesapeake House, which is approximately 14 miles north of the Maryland House and 12 miles south of the Delaware line. Chesapeake House provides Maryland literature and assists travelers with directions to state attractions and accommodations.

Featuring a picnic area, a pet area and 24-hour restrooms, the US 13 North Welcome Center is just north of the Virginia state line in Worcester County, Maryland. Approximately four miles south of Pocomoke City, the center is the gateway to Maryland's lower Eastern Shore.
